Our harvest is almost finished and the new oil is ready.
Harvesting this year has been helped by a great team of family and volunteers. By the time we finish it will have been some 18 days of hand harvesting over almost two months. It has been an unusually wet winter so far and we do not harvest in he rain. So the wet days have provided periods of frustration but also welcome rest. Niall has processed all of our olives for oil on site. This year's oil is quite special after such a favourable autumn. Our frantioia in already ready for bulk packaging and most other oils will be ready for bottling in about two weeks. We have green table olives ready for purchase but the black olives take much longer for the bitterness to clear. The trees have had a great fruit set and the birds seem to have had other sources of nourishment, until recently at least.

Sold Out - Sadly
The combination of an increased demand for our high quality extra virgin olive oil and our smaller harvest means that we have not been able to keep up with demand. The weather at fertilisation (in 2023) and then hungry birds at ripening time meant a smaller harvest in 2024. So we have completely sold out.
The good news is that the crop for 2025 is looking really good. Fingers crossed. We don't like to count our oil till the olives are pressed! We are eagerly looking forward to August when we expect our oil to be in good supply again.
25 th May 2024.
Manzanilla olives are beginning to change colour and now feel as if there is oil present. We will likely start harvesting in the next two weeks. This is much earlier than our previous years start.. This year has been really dry and, as we rely on rainfall to water, this may have contributed to a smaller crop. It is always an exciting time watching to see what we can harvest and how the oil tastes.
